I am doing another blog as part of my 23 things. This blog is about RSS. The handout gives the following site "http://plcmclearning.blogspot.com/2006/08/8-make-life-really-simple-with-rss.html"as a site to refer to but this site does not exist anymore. The handout also asks to subscribe to five sites including a library. I could not find any library that has RSS, I have subscribed to ABC news, the AFL, google news, national nine news and Yahoo 7 national news.
What I have found out about RSS is that it has two meanings, they are real simple syndication and rich site summary.According to Ezine @rticles, web site http://ezinearticles.com/ "the real power of RSS is indicated in the term syndication. You can get information or messages across the web instantly to your websites, your readers and/or subscribe. RSS is a simple technology that helps to distribute your information whether it is product reviews, special offers, resource announcements and articles by syndicating across the net. In order to take advantage of this simple technology, you can start by setting up a blog, as blogs are RSS ready. RSS helps you keep yourself updated with the accurate and best information available on the web."
RSS can be a great tool for libraries as this is one of the great ways for them to advise library users of the latest news and activites going on.
